SERC Spatial Reasoning Conference 2018

SERC is a Research Centre for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education located at Canberra. Indeed SERC is an acronym within an acronym! The director, Prof Tom Lowrie is a world authority on spacial reasoning. He even has his own Wikipedia entry. In 2018 they held their Second Spatial Reasoning Seminar. Mary Heggarty

Mary is Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences at University of California, Santa Barbara. She received her B.A. and M.A in Psychology at University College Dublin and her Ph.D. in Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University in 1988. Her research is on spatial cognition. Current research topics include individual differences in
navigation, the role of spatial abilities in science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) achievement, and how people interpret visualizations of
uncertainty.
